Frankincense Tallow Balm
Frankincense Tallow Balm
This nourishing balm is made with grass-fed tallow from happy, healthy cows raised on a regenerative agriculture farm local to us. Rendering and using fat is a lost art and unfortunately a part of the animal that often goes to waste. Not only is it resourceful to use rendered fat, but it’s extremely nourishing to the body inside and out. It’s a pure and simple fat— the moisturizer of “the days of old”.
The oil in our skin and tallow share many of the same lipids, allowing the tallow to deeply moisturize and nourish our skin. We’ve taken the time to render and clarify the fat into tallow here on our homestead and create a balm that can be used on the face face or for specific problem areas like cuticles, elbows, and other dry patches on the body.
Frankincense has been highly valued since the days of old and may remind you of the three wise men and their gifts for baby Jesus. It is an incredibly beneficial essential oil to use on the skin— brightening, rejuvenating, regenerating, and so much more. We always use a less than 1% dilution rate for any essential oils, making our products safe for topical use.
This balm is thick and creamy but will not leave a greasy residue. This is a heavier moisturizer and a little goes a long way! In the summer I use our homestead salves on my face, but once the colder weather hits I begin using a little tallow balm too.
