This soap is inspired by the pioneers of days past. Their resources were limited, cultivating resourceful and frugal spirits. Nothing went to waste and so leftover fat from their meat was saved, rendered, clarified, and turned into soap.

In our kitchen, we enjoy local bacon from pasture raised pigs and we always save the grease. It’s free lard and to throw it away would be a huge waste! But we have accumulated more than we could ever use in a lifetime. Because of this, Prairie Provisions was born. We took the bacon grease, clarified it to remove odors and flavors, and have turned it into a creamy nourishing bar of soap…(that doesn’t smell like bacon!) These bars are topped with dried marigold petals from the garden for a bit of beauty.

Lard is a fat from the days of old and is beneficial for skin irritations such as eczema, rashes, dried skin and more. Prairie Provisions is a long lasting bar with a creamy lather. It is gentle and moisturizing while cleansing at the same time.

This is soap like grandma used to make: plain and simple, no frills or cancerous chemicals. A sustainable and nourishing alternative to the many vegetable-oil laden soaps today.

Free of toxic chemicals, synthetic fragrance and dyes.

Size: Rustically hand cut into approximately 3.5 oz - 4 oz bars

Ingredients: Filtered water, organic extra-virgin olive oil, 100% pasture-raised local lard, organic virgin coconut oil, sodium hydroxide*, organic orange essential oil, organic bergamot essential oil, organic rosemary essential oil

*Each batch is fully saponified, cured, and PH tested. There is no lye left in the final product.
